Intercontinental Readers Book Club 2016
The Intercontinental Readers Book Club has announced the meeting dates and books for 2016. Meetings take place at 1:00 pm in the lower level of the Main Peoria Public Library. The Book Club enjoys a Skype connection with the Clonmel Library and a lively discussion is not uncommon! Open to the public, Friends of Clonmel membership not necessary.

Leo and Jo Jordan Honored
Leo and Jo Jordan, founders and longtime officers of the Friends of Clonmel,
were honored at a reception on November 9, 2016. All Lifetime Members of FOC were invited to attend.
The FOC Officers and Board of Directors hosted the event held at Mt. Hawley Country Club. Honored guests included Mayor Jim Ardis, Sister City Commissioner Rex Linder, and Sha Kelley, longtime FOC member and supporter. All offered words of congratulation to the Jordans for establishing the Sister City relationship between Peoria and Clonmel and for their many years of service in making the organization prosper.
Leo and Jo’s three daughters and families were present along with extended family members and friends. We thank all of the Jordan family for their ongoing support of Friends of Clonmel.
In addition to a commemorative crystal plate presented to the Jordans, a $2,000 gift is being made to Banna Chluain Meala in honor of the Jordans. This gift will be presented to BCM by West Peoria Mayor, Jim Dillon, when he visits Clonmel later this month.
The 4th Annual Irish Derby
The Irish Derby, held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Gateway Building, was an exciting evening of wagering and winning on pre-recorded video horse races as you enjoy food, fun, friends and fabulous prizes. Guests enjoyed dinner and 10 complimentary Derby Dollars for wagering. Prizes were awarded for Best Derby Attire and Best Derby Hat.
Proceeds used to support ongoing sister city educational and social programs between Peoria and Clonmel.
Annual Pub Quiz – Trivia Challenge
Our 5th Annual Pub Quiz was held on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Jimmy’s Bar in Peoria. The friendly competition between the Sister Bars of Carey’s Pub, Clonmel Ireland and Jimmy’s Bar, West Peoria, Illinois resulted in the Trivia Challenge Trophy coming back to Jimmy’s Bar this year!! Great job by all the teams, both in Clonmel and Peoria!
Annual Irish Pub Tour
The fun began at Jimmy’s Bar on Saturday, February 20, 2016 and proceeded by Peoria Charter Coach to the best Irish Pubs in the area!
Tim and Jolene Doyle once again hosted an enjoyable time for all!
